You can now sign up to take part in the 2nd edition of our MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) The Alhambra: History, Art, and Heritage. The Alhambra and Generalife palaces in Granada are widely regarded as being among the most outstanding examples of Arabic architecture in the world. In 1984 these palaces, along with the labyrinth-like historical quarter known as the Albaicín, were declared UNESCO world heritage sites, further adding to Granada's reputation as one of the most beautiful cities in the world.




About the course


The MOOC, a unique and pioneering course, has been developed jointly by the University of Granada, the CEI BioTic and La Escuela de la Alhambra. It aims to provide you with university level education, offering a challenging, user-friendly and highly rewarding learning experience. During the course you will learn about the history and aesthetics of the Alhambra, the processes that went into its construction, and its conservation.

With tailor-made audiovisual materials, supplementary teaching resources, discussion forums and direct assistance, the course is an excellent way to discover one of the most breathtaking monuments and historical sites in the world. The course is free of charge and you will have the opportunity to complete it either in Spanish or in English.
