The 13th MAPRYAL International Conference Series will take place in Granada from 13-20 September 2015. MAPRYAL (The International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature) represents 80,000 specialists in Russian linguistics and literature from over 69 different countries and was founded as a public, non-governmental organization. The main objective of the Association is to promote the teaching of the Russian Language, as well as Russian literature, throughout the world. The Organization’s opening ceremony was held in Paris in 1967 and in 1975 UNESCO granted it advisory status.

This scientific meeting of Russian language specialists is the most important and prestigious of its kind internationally, and takes place every four years. It will be the first MAPRYAL Conference to take place in Western Europe since 1994, when the 8th edition was celebrated in Regensburg in south-east Germany.

The MAPRYAL Conferences, which are state endorsed, are opened by high-ranking officials from the Russian government and are often accompanied by important cultural activities. On this occasion they will be organized jointly, in collaboration with the Russian government and the Russian Embassy in Madrid.

The decision to hold the conference series in Granada was made at the MAPRYAL General Assembly in Shanghai in May 2011.
