International Staff Training Week 2015

International Staff Training Week 2015

Staff Week 2015

The University of Granada is happy to announce that its 6th International Staff Training Week, an initiative within the Erasmus+ Programme, will be held from 18-22 May 2015. The five-day programme includes plenary sessions, round tables, workshops, presentations, and social events.

Bringing together our European Partner Universities, the main objective of the Staff Training Week is to exchange know-how; beneficiaries will have the opportunity to gain insights into the working procedures at the UGR and to exchange experiences and good practices with partner institutions. They will thereby acquire relevant practical skills for their professional development in the higher education sector.

In our view, such initiatives are pivotal in shaping the path towards more effective higher education systems in Europe and are a great way for all of us to get involved in building and strengthening international mobility networks in the sector.

About the 6th International Staff Training Week at the UGR

Building upon the success of the past 5 years, this year we will host 99 participants from 26 countries, including Tunisia and Morocco. With regards to the UGR staff, more than 40 are involved in the Staff Training Week and are in charge of tasks such as organisation, interpreting and translation, as well as the scheduled activities such as the plenary sessions, round tables and workshops.

This year the focus will be on 4 main areas:

• General university administration (60)

• University libraries (19)

• Information technology (8)

• Careers services (12)

(No. of participants from our European Partner Universities indicated in parenthesis)

A range of topics will be discussed, such as the internationalization of the UGR, international mobility, access and admissions to the UGR, postgraduate courses, the Erasmus Mundus Programmes, IT services, human resources, financial management, and gender equality.

Moreover, participants will have the opportunity to go on guided tours of the city’s most emblematic sites and monuments, such as the Alhambra and Generalife Palaces, el Hospital Real (the ‘Royal Hospital’ — the XVI century building which now houses the University headquarters) and the Science Museum (El Parque de las Ciencias).

The International Staff Training Week is just one of the activities which reflect the UGR’s ever-expanding international outlook, alongside other activities such as the Orientation Weeks for incoming students, which are designed to enable the 3,000+ mobility students that attend the UGR each year to find their bearings before each semester begins.

The International Staff Training Week also enables the UGR to strengthen and expand upon its 800 international mobility agreements with its Partner Universities (please visit the interactive map below to explore the UGR’s extensive international relations with institutions across the globe).
