Winter Universiade Granada 2015

The Winter Universiade Granada 2015 is currently in full swing, and is taking place at various venues in the city of Granada and in the Sierra Nevada mountain range.

The Winter Universiade is one of the most important sport events in the world, demonstrated by over 100 years of history. Each year thousands of international students from universities across the globe come together to represent their countries and compete in a variety of different sports. In 1928, under the name of the Winter Student World Championship, different competitions were held in the most emblematic ski resorts all over the world, such as Cortina d´Ampezzo, St. Moritz or Innsbruck. The International University Sports Federation (FISU) is in charge of maintaining its spirit, as well as promoting the value of sports and culture worldwide.

The Winter Universiade includes 10 different disciplines:

  • Alpine Skiing
  • Biathlon
  • Cross-country Skiing
  • Snowboarding
  • Freestyle
  • Figure Skating
  • Speed Skating
  • Curling
  • Ice Hockey
  • Ski Jumping

The Winter Universiade Granada 2015 competition programme covers the following disciplines: Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding, Freestyle, Figure Skating, Speed Skating, Curling and Ice Hockey. Those competitions will take place both in the city of Granada and in the Sierra Nevada mountain range.
