XVI Symposium of the International Dostoevsky Society: 07-10 June 2016

We are pleased to announce that the 16th Symposium of the International Dostoevsky Society will be held at the University of Granada from June 7-10, 2016. The Symposium will commemorate 150 years since the publication of “Crime and Punishment” and will be the most important event on Dostoevsky organized to date in Spain.

The Symposium’s main goals are to promote multidisciplinary research on this essential novel and to bring together Dostoevsky researchers interested in the Conference topics:



1. “Crime and Punishment”: 150 years since its publication.

2. New contributions to the study of Dostoevsky’s life and work.

3. Dostoevsky in science and the Arts.

4. Dostoevsky’s contributions to understanding the literary process, fiction, and literary communication.

5. “Crime and Punishment” in Spain: critical responses and its translation into Spanish.

The official languages of the symposium are Russian, English and Spanish. In addition to the scheduled sessions, a round table conference entitled “Translating Dostoevsky” will also be held, as well as an exhibition of illustrations based on Dostoevsky’s works, in collaboration with the F.M. Dostoevsky Museum in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg.
