The Inter-University Institute for Earth System Research was established in 1989 as a joint venture between the Andalusian Regional Government and the University of Granada. The centre was created with the mission of facilitating the development of new, multidisciplinary, and innovative lines of research in environmental studies. At the centre, our primary objective is to promote the sustainable use of natural resources and enhance living standards in society.

We actively support Research and Development (R+D) initiatives, mainly by means of providing the following facilities at our centre:

• Wave and current channelling systems
• All-Sky Imager
• Multi Angle Absorption Photometer
• Aerodynamic Particle Sizer Spectrometer (APS)
• Solar photometer (CIMEL CE-138)
• CO2 and H20 flow towers
• Nephelometer (TSI 3536 Model)

At the centre, we strive to ensure our researchers’ work reaches the widest audience possible. We achieve this aim by ensuring that important research developments made at the Institute are published in leading academic journals. Moreover, we work closely both with both the local and regional administrations and with private sector businesses, offering world-class consultancy services.
