Every year, the Faculty of Pharmacy welcomes a great number of students from other regions of Spain and abroad, creating a unique multicultural environment.

This five-year degree is comprised of four learning stages: basic subjects, core subjects, elective subjects and an internship. Basic subjects provide a basic grounding in areas like anatomy, biometry, physics, chemistry, biochemistry, inorganic chemistry and botany. Our core subjects cover more specific areas related to chemistry, instrumental methods, parasitology, microbiology, physiology, biotechnology, physiopathology, pharmacology, immunology, pharmaceutical technologies, specific legislation, nutrition and food science toxicology and public health.

As a student on our Degree, you will be able to choose from a large range of elective subjects in areas like pharmaceutical care, dietetics, statistics, geology, hydrology, parasitology, immunology, radiology and advanced chemistry. In your final year, you will also take on an internship that will allow you to put your theoretical knowledge into practice in a real-life setting.

Our graduates are highly qualified to work as pharmacists, both in the private and public sector. Community pharmacists work in chemist shops, selling medicines and providing advice about medicines and general health matters. Hospital pharmacists work primarily in the public sector, purchasing, manufacturing and dispensing medicines, carrying out quality testing and advice on medicine selection and dosage. Other popular career choices include clinical research, teaching, product development and toxicology.

Pharmacists are experts in medicine, both in its chemical and biological aspects and in its practical application in health care. Furthermore, their multidisciplinary background means they have been contributing to research in a great number of fields, such as botany, biochemistry, nutrition, food science, parasitology or microbiology. Pharmaceutical care involves engagement and communication with patients, giving advice on specific medication and on general health conditions. Pharmacists, with their detailed knowledge of drugs and how they work, play a fundamental role in healthcare and are therefore indispensable in today’s society.
