VIII Andalusian Audiovisual Exhibition: October - February 2016

Audiovisual Exhibition

The VIII Andalusian Audiovisual Exhibition will take between 17 October 2016 and 27 February 2017 and includes fourteen sessions which will be screened every Monday at 18:00 in the Euro-Arab Foundation. In total, 28 productions will be screened.

Rethinking Africa: Global Rights and Southern Epistemologies (Oct-Nov 2016)

Course, Rethinking Africa

The course Rethinking Africa: Global Rights and Southern Epistemologies will be held during the months of October and November 2016 at the UGR. Renowned experts from diverse universities, research institutes, and associations will explore an extensive range of topics, such as southern epistemologies, social participation, ethnocentrism, social movements, economics, the right to migrate, and food security, to mention just a few areas. Participation on the course is free of charge.

'Identity and Vestiges' - exhibition by critically acclaimed artist Marina Núñez at the UGR (Oct - Dec 2016)

To kick off a new season of exhibitions at the UGR, the Centre for Contemporary Culture will showcase the work of the prolific and internationally acclaimed artist Marina Núñez (Palencia, 1967). The exhibition, entitled Identidad y Vestigios (Identity and Vestiges in English), encompasses three subject matters that Núñez has consistently addressed from divergent perspectives throughout her artistic career; identity, the body, and death.






UGR Course: An Introduction to Cinematic Language (Part I - Nov 2016 )

An Introduction to Cinematic Language: Part I (in Spanish: Iniciación al lenguaje del cine) is a pioneering cinematography workshop run by the University of Granada’s Cinema Club. As a student on the course you will acquire a solid grounding in basic cinematic language, including fundamental technical concepts such as découpage, camera angles, camera movement, lighting, composition, sound, music, and staging.

The III International Conference of the LIESS Network will be held in Granada from 8th-11th of November 2016. The conference will examine transformations in how society deals with the topic of desire in different spheres.





International Workshop: Decolonizing Identities (11-12 November 2016)

Decolonizing identities, international workshop

In the international scene, we are currently witnessing unprecedented levels of migration. This phenomenon provides the Decolonizing Identity workshop with a starting point for initiating debate, drawing upon the fields of ethnography, social anthropology, historiography, economics, literature, philosophy and law. The workshop aims to encourage new interactions and exchanges between these different fields, supporting proposals that break away from geographical limits dating from the colonial era.

About European Researchers’ Night

European Researchers´ Night, which will take place on Friday 30th September, is an annual event dedicated to celebrating popular science, fun learning, and to bringing researchers and society closer together. It allows you to meet the heroes of science; in other words, the researchers from different disciplines whose extraordinary work can change our lives. The programme encompasses hands-on experiments, practical workshops, science exhibitions, live performances, and exciting educational workshops for children, to mention just a few of the fascinating activities lined up.






Engineering for Sustainable Development Forum: 29-30 September 2016

Sustainable
The Engineering for Sustainable Development Forum, a unique event in Andalusia which will take place on the 29th and 30th of September 2016, aims to provide a benchmark forum for knowledge exchanges in the field of sustainable development. The Forum will explore areas such as climate change, renewable energy, water management, sustainable mobility, social entrepreneurship and sustainable funding.







III Meeting of the MOMA (Markets, Organizations, Mechanisms and Agents) network

MOMA

The MOMA (Markets, Organizations, Mechanisms and Agents) network will hold its third inter-university meeting on the 23rd and 24th of September 2016 at the University of Granada. The goal of the MOMA network is to study the performance of agents and organizations in markets and other decentralized mechanisms.

This year, over 2000 new international students will complete studies at the UGR thanks to the diverse range of mobility programmes at our institution. The Vice-Rectorate for Internationalization at the University of Granada organizes an Orientation Week for International Students each semester. This semester, the Orientation Week will be held from 12-16 September 2016 and for those beginning in the second semester from 6-10 February 2017.
