Undergraduate Degree in Telecommunications Technology Engineering

Undergraduate Degree in Telecommunications Technology Engineering

Programme Telecommunications Technology Engineering
Description Telecommunications engineering is an engineering discipline that brings together electrical engineering with computer science to enhance telecommunication systems. The work ranges from basic circuit design to strategic mass developments.

A telecommunication engineer is responsible for designing and overseeing the installation of telecommunications equipment and facilities, such as complex electronic switching systems, copper wire telephone facilities, and fibre optics. It is a diverse field of engineering which is connected to electronics, civil, structural, and electrical engineering.

We prepare our students to become competent telecommunications engineers with competitive attributes in the professional market through extensive theoretical and practical training.

Our teaching staff is highly qualified, both in teaching and in the professional world, with a great presence in research in this field. We share our Faculty with Computer Engineering, which gives our students a vast array of resources and the possibility of doing a double degree.

This four-year Degree is comprised of three learning stages: basic, core and elective subjects. After the second academic year, students will be able to take on a specialisation in one of three fields: Telecommunication systems, Telematics or Electronic systems. This Degree includes subjects in areas such as mathematics, electronics, electrical circuits, networks, telematics or fibre-optic communication.

Our graduates will be able to either work as telecommunications technical engineers or course a master’s degree to further progress in their academic career. Engineers in this field will be able to find a job both in the public and the private sector, such as in town councils, governments, quality assurance companies or in internet and telephone providers. Furthermore, there is a wide range of work placement possibilities for our graduates.

Telecommunications technology engineering allows us to communicate with the people we care for, even if they are at the other side of the world. Join this exciting field with an amazing range of possibilities in work, research and teaching.
