Description Speech therapy specialises in the evaluation and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders. The services provided through this therapy include initial screening for communication and swallowing disorders, assessment and diagnosis, consultation regarding management, intervention and treatment, counselling and other follow up services for these disorders.

Our Degree in Speech Therapy trains highly competent therapists, prepared for the demands of professional work in this field. In spite of it being a young discipline, speech therapy has progressed greatly in recent years, and professionals in this field are now highly sought after in education, health and social services.

The Faculty of Psychology of the University of Granada was one of the first to introduce studies in speech therapy in Spain. This UGR is also one of the most attractive to study speech therapy in Spain due to the large amount of agreements with national and international universities.

This four-year degree is comprised of four learning stages: basic subjects, core subjects, elective subjects and an internship. Basic subjects provide a rigorous grounding in areas like language, speech therapy, anatomy and neuropsychology. Our core subjects cover more specific areas, such as evaluation and diagnostics, disorders and intervention. There is also an internship programme comprised of 24 credits which is still in development.

Speech therapy is currently a growing science, with more uses every day and with a huge range of job prospects, in areas such as research, health, and education.

The ability to express oneself is paramount, and this is where professionals in this field can contribute immensely. Speech therapists do a great service to society, helping patients communicate more effectively and building their self-confidence. Society needs professionals in this field to improve the quality of life of many people.
