Description Dentistry is the branch of medicine concerned with the study, prevention and diagnosis of diseases, disorders and conditions affecting the teeth, jawbones, mouth and oral tissues. It is thought that dental surgery was the first specialised form of medicine, with the history of dentistry stretching back to 7000 BC. Nowadays, oral diseases have a high incidence rate and are prevalent across the globe, making this branch of medicine more necessary than ever.

Our Degree in Dentistry is designed to prepare students for their career in dental healthcare, providing knowledge and training in all the aspects they will need to become dentists. Our programme is made up of 300 credits, corresponding to five academic years of study, thus complying with the recommendations of the European Union.

Our Dentistry Faculty is very well equipped, and we give our students the opportunity to perfect their skills working with patients in dental clinics. Our teaching staff are highly qualified, participating in different research projects, congresses and events nationally and internationally.

We aim for our students to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to satisfy society’s demands for dental care, learning how to prevent, diagnose and treat different problems effectively, ethically and safely. As a student on our degree, you will go through several different learning stages. Basic training includes fundamental subjects in areas such as anatomy, biochemistry, psychology and physiology. Core subjects provide training in areas such as pathology, medicine, dentistry, orthodontics, endodontics, periodontics, surgery, prosthetics, aesthetics, paediatric dentistry, radiology and pharmacology.

Aside from basic and core subjects, you can also choose a number of elective subjects and undertake a supervised internship. Elective subjects include areas such as history of dentistry, radioprotection, professional planning, geriatric dentistry, implantology, English for specific purposes, information science applied to dentistry, emergencies and forensics.

Currently, over 96% of our graduates find employment as dentists. In Spain, this profession can be accessed in different ways: as an employee at a dental clinic, setting up your own practice or working in public healthcare. Research and teaching are also a good career option.
