| Description | Our Degree offers a multidisciplinary approach to the study of conservation and restoration of cultural property and historical buildings. Both scientific and humanistic approaches are given central importance, and it draws on 13 fundamental knowledge areas. We make the most of the technological installations and facilities at the UGR to ensure that you acquire the practical know-how required to obtain work upon completion of your studies. These are just a few of the knowledge areas that students on our course have the opportunity to study:Art history and theory, Basic principles of drawing, Sculpture: mediums and materials, Painting: mediums and materials, Analysing style, form and representation, Photographic documentation, Contemporary art, A history of thought, Restoration: history and theory, Archaeological conservation and restoration, Iconography, Exhibiting artwork, Museology. Studying our Degree in Restoration and Conservation in Granada is an unrivalled experience, given the city’s phenomenal history, architecture and museums. The city is home to two UNESCO world heritage sites. Granada’s awe-inspiring and world-renowned Alhambra palace was the last remaining citadel of Moorish rule in Western Europe until its fall in 1492, while the stunning historical quarter known as the Albaicin was once home to the predominantly Moorish communities in Granada. And thanks to the multitude of diverse communities that settled here, Granada itself is one of the most historically and archaeologically rich cities in Western Europe. The UGR’s five campuses, libraries and centre also form an integral part of Granada’s cityscape, some of which are housed in emblematic buildings which date back as far as the XVI century. Our graduates are highly qualified to work in the fields of research, documentation and teaching. The degree’s core strength lies in its versatility and multidisciplinary nature, a characteristic which is highly valued by employers in today’s current labour market. |
