Applying

With a view to ensuring that your application process experience is as stress-free as possible, in this section we outline the most important dates during the application period, as well as the general entry requirements for our Masters Programmes.

This webpage contains three parts:

1. Applying & Admissions Period 2016-2017*

2. General Entry Requirements

3. How to complete the enrollment process once you have been accepted onto a master's degree

1. Applying & Admissions Period

Please check the Distrito Único Andaluz website to ensure these dates, or any other information, has not been modified (contents in Spanish):

2. General Entry Requirements

Entry Requirements

The following information provides instructions on general entry requirements for Masters programmes at the UGR and instructions on how to complete the online application process.

In order to apply to a University of Granada masters programme you must either submit:

  • An official university degree from an institution belonging to the European Higher Education Area. The degree must allow you to apply to masters programmes in the country in which it was issued. If the degree was issued in a language other than English, Spanish, French, Italian, or Portuguese, you must submit a certified (sworn) translation of the degree in one of the above languages.

or

  • A degree from an institution outside the European Higher Education Area. As long as the degree indicates the same level of expertise and training as equivalent degrees issued by Spanish universities (this will be verified by the University of Granada), no further administrative steps are required in order for your degree to be recognised by the UGR.

Please be aware that each masters programme may specify additional entry requirements. You are advised to visit the webpage of the specific programme to which you are applying to check if any additional entry requirements apply.

Online Applications

In order to be accepted onto a UGR masters programme, first of all you need to pre-enrol on the Distrito Único Andaluz website (the regional body which manages public university applications in Andalusia). All masters programmes offered by public universities are available on the Distrito Único Andaluz website:

Distrito Único Andaluz: Masters Programmes

Important preliminary information

Please take note of the following information before completing the online application process:

*Please note that the entire application process is completed online. All documents must be uploaded electronically (you do not need to print or post any documents, unless otherwise requested to do so).

  • Once you have completed the application process, a document notifying you that your application has been registered will automatically appear online. A copy of this document will also be sent to the e-mail address provided by you in your application form. Please save a copy of this file as proof that your application has been registered.
  • You may only submit one application form.
  • You must place the programmes from the Andalusian Public Universities to which you wish to apply in order of preference (if you wish to apply to more than one programme within the Andalusian Public University system).
  • You can modify this application form during each application phase, and change the order of preferences. However, please note that doing so will thereby nullify the previous application form (it will effectively be substituted by the new, modified application form).
  • All documents submitted online will later be requested from you (both the originals and photocopies of the originals). Please do not attempt to submit any originals or photocopies by post or in person until you are requested to do so by the UGR during registration.
  • Documents can be submitted in any of the following languages; English, Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese. Documents submitted in any other language than these must also be accompanied by a certified translation of the original document into English, Spanish, French, Italian or Portuguese.
  • In the case of foreign applicants, all references made to a DNI (Documento Nacional de Identidad) should be interpreted as referring to your passport or NIE (Número de Identificación de Extranjeros or Foreigner’s Identification Number). In other words, you do NOT need a Spanish DNI in order to apply to our programmes, your passport or NIE is perfectly valid.

Applicants with degrees from foreign universities within the European Higher Education Area

As well as the online application form, applicants must submit the following documents electronically:

  • Passport NIE DNI
  • Degree certificate or document indicating successful attainment of degree if your degree certificate has not yet been issued. Please note that the degree submitted must be valid for masters programme applications in the country in which it was issued
  • Academic records or transcripts indicating the marks you obtained in the subjects on your degree and each subject’s duration (expressed either in terms of ECTS credits or in months). These academic records or transcripts must also indicate the overall mark you obtained upon completion of the undergraduate degree. The mark you obtained in your degree dissertation should also be included (if you completed on and the UGR masters programme to which you are applying specifies that this mark is required).
  • If you have been awarded a study grant, this document should also be included

Applicants with degrees issued by foreign universities outside the European Higher Education Area and not recognised in Spain as equivalents of Spanish degrees, but which allow you to apply to postgraduate studies in the country in which the degree was issued:

As well as the online application form, applicants must submit the following documents electronically:

  • Passport NIE DNI
  • Degree certificate or document indicating successful attainment of degree if your degree certificate has not yet been issued.
  • A document issued from an official body in the country where the undergraduate degree certificate was issued which indicates that it is valid in order to gain access to postgraduate studies in the same country.
  • Academic records or transcripts indicating the marks you obtained in the subjects on your degree and each subject’s duration (expressed either in ECTS credits or in months). These academic records or transcripts must also indicate the overall mark you obtained upon completion of the undergraduate degree. The mark you obtained in your degree dissertation should also be included (only if you completed one, and the UGR masters programme to which you are applying specifies that this mark is required).
  • If you have been awarded a study grant, this document should also be included
  • Official document indicating the minimum mark required to pass a subject on the applicant’s degree and the maximum mark obtainable.
