Europe's leading university in international mobility

In recent years the UGR has occupied the leading position in both outgoing and incoming Erasmus student mobility at European level and leading positions in teaching staff, non-teaching staff and placement mobility at national level.

At the UGR, we are also a leading participant in the Erasmus Mundus programme for cooperation beyond the borders of Europe, and we have a strong non-EU mobility programme financed by our own annual budget. Alongside more traditional student mobility, we promote international placement (internship) mobility amongst our students. Similarly, a variety of short-term mobility actions for summer courses and practical fieldwork are also offered.

The UGR also takes part in mobility initiatives as part of programmes such as the Organisation of Ibero-American States' PIMA (Academic Mobility and Exchange Programme), the European Commission's Erasmus Mundus and UNESCO's PEACE programme, as well as programmes organised by the Coimbra Group of Universities. It offers grants for full undergraduate courses at the UGR through agreements with the Spanish embassies in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Romania and Morocco, and postgraduate courses through the Carolina Foundation. To complete our range of mobility initiatives, we offer a series of mobility programmes with Arabian countries, Eastern Europe, the U.S.A. and Canada, Latin America, Australia and the Far East. These arose out of a number of bilateral agreements that are still in force today and currently involve some 700 students.

In addition to these, the UGR takes a very active role in all sorts of inter-university cooperation programmes: Tempus, Alfa, Erasmus Mundus, PIMA, PEACE, Urb-Al, Interreg and many more. It is a member of a large number of international university networks and associations, including the Coimbra Group, the European University Association (EUA), the Mediterranean Universities Union (Unimed) and the Ibero-American University Association for Postgraduate Studies (AUIP).
